Happy pizza dough making!
Hey Friends, It’s Alicia from Dental Momma here and today we are making the super easy, yet exceptionally flavorful pizza dough. This is great for pizza but it can also be used for pizza bombs, garlic bread, flat bread. You name it and it probably can be used for it. When you want that restaurant quality but that made at home flair, this is the recipe for you!
When I first started making pizza years ago, I tried so many different types of recipes. It truly has take me some time to develop this perfect recipe that comes out perfect every time. And now I’m so happy to share it with you.
Now with this recipe you will see that I use avocado oil. I L-O-V-E avocado oil. It adds so much flavor to any recipe without leaving behind or altering the end product’s flavor. If you have never tried it. I absolutely recommend it!
One of the most important parts of this recipe is that you have time for the dough to rise. This is critical my friends. I recommend at least 30 minutes but 1 full hour will make this dough rise so beautifully and develop the flavor that everyone loves in a good pizza.
I’m telling you my friends, you can make batches of this dough and stick it in the freezer. It can be frozen for up to 3 months in small balls for quick and easy future meals. It can also be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in the fridge. Can you say meal prep honey, okayyy!
Easy Pizza Dough
Ingredients
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 2 ยผ tsp instant/fast rising dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp avocado oil plus more for the bowl
- 2 cups warm water
- Plastic wrap or a clean cloth
Instructions
- Add flour, sugar, salt and avocado oil to a bowl.
- Make a small hole in the center of the flour and add the yeast.
- Now slowly add the warm water to the dry ingredients and use a stand mixer with a dough hook or a large spoon to combine the ingredients.
- Knead the dough in the stand mixer about 5-6 minutes with a dough hook. If kneading by hand, sprinkle a little flour on your working surface and your hands and work/knead the dough for about 6-8 minutes. The dough should be slightly tacky and little sticky but still able to hold a round shape.
- Drizzle a little avocado oil into a bowl, just enough to coat it.
- Now the dough ball to the bowl and rotate the ball so that it is completely coated in oil.
- Let dough rise in a warm place for 30- 60 minutes. The dough should double in size.
- Voila! Dough is done and done. Ready to be used for all kinds of recipes like Easy Pizza bombs or traditional homemade pizza or homemade garlic bread.
Notes
- This dough recipe makes two (2) nice size 12 inch pan crust pizzas and two (2) 16 inch thin crust pizzas.
- The longer you let the dough rise, the better the flavor and the more airy of a crust you will have. You want the dough ball to at least double in size.
- You need to have a warm place to store the covered dough. A little trick I like to do is preheat the oven for about 60 seconds and then turn it off. That makes the perfect environment for dough to rise in.ย
- You can also turn on the ovenโs internal light and that will create a nice warm environment over time as well.ย
- I like using a mixer with a dough hook but you can absolutely knead this dough by hand. A little elbow grease never hurt anybody.
- Dough can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months in small balls for quick and easy future meals. It can also be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in the fridge. Can you say meal prep honey, okayyy!
- To unthaw–just place dough into the fridge the day before you plan to make your pizza. Let the dough stand a room temperature for an hour before rolling it out for use.ย
