Easy 5 Ingredient Deviled Eggs

This recipe is definitely a favorite of mine. It doubles not only has a great appetizer but also as a healthy snack. I can remember many days back when I was working and getting up at 5am in the morning eating this dish. It was my go-to, because it was quick and delicious and I knew it would hold me over until lunch if I didn’t have time to make a “proper” breakfast.

What I love most about this recipe is that it is oh simple. It only uses 4 ingredients. Most of which you probably already have in your house. So now you almost can do this without having to run to the store. Big bonus, right!

The key to making this recipe the most successful is cooking your eggs. I like to use my instant pot to cook my eggs. I use the famous 5-5-5 rule. 5 minutes to come to pressure, 5 minutes under pressure and 5 minutes of natural release. And you only need 1 cup of water and the trivet that comes with the machine.

But… If you don’t have one, no need to fear. You can still make this recipe. Just hard boil those eggs the traditional way. You know in a pot of boiling water. Now if you do a quick google search of how to cook the perfect hard boiled egg. You will find an array of answers and it depends on the end goal of those yokes. Here at The Dental momma  , we prefer the yokes be cooked completely. So I recommend boiling for 16 minutes. Then placing the cooked eggs in an ice bath to cool and stop the cooking process. But, if you have a preferred method and cooking time. Just roll with that honey, okayyy.

Additionally, this recipe can totally be customized. You can add chives, dill, jalapenos or bacon, yum! I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. If you add some of these things let me know down in the comments. Also hashtag #dentalmommacooks so I can see those pictures.

You really can’t go wrong with this recipe guys. It’s sure to be a crowd pleaser at your next event. Or if you’re like me, you can just make a quick batch all for yourself. No shame here my friends. They’re just that good!

Ingredients

  • 1 dozen eggs
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp of mustard
  • 1 tbsp of onion finely chopped
  • Salt & paprika

Instructions

  • Prepare the eggs. Bring a pot of water to boil and cook for 16 minutes. Or use your instant pot and use the 5-5-5 method. More details about this is in the description above and the notes below.
  • While the eggs are boiling, finely chop 1 tbsp of onion.
  • Remove the eggs from the boiling water and let cool in either an ice bath or naturally.
  • Once eggs have cooled, peel them and cut them lengthwise, being careful not to break the egg whites.
  • Remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl and mash them with a fork until they are crumbled.
  • Now, add the ½ cup of mayonnaise, ½ tsp of mustard, and 1 tbsp of finely chopped onions. Mix to combine.
  • Taste the mixture. If you like the flavor great! If not, add a little bit of salt to taste.
  • Assemble the eggs by filling the egg whites with the yolk mixture. About a tsp at a time.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of paprika or any other toppings that you love and enjoy.

Notes

  • I highly recommend preparing this recipe a couple of hours in advance. The flavor is absolutely amazing once all the ingredients have set.
  • Also this recipe tastes great from the get-go. But trust this momma, it’s worth the wait!
  • I like my yolk mixture to have a good amount of creaminess. So add less mayonnaise if you like your mixture a little stiffer.
