About Me
Welcome Friends!

My Story
Welcome Friends to my new adventure. My name is Alicia Bexley and I have been a dental hygienist for over 10 years. I graduated from Kennedy King College/University of Illinois (UIC) Dental College. I also earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from Nova Southeastern University. I hold licenses in multiple states and have practiced in just about every dental setting. From pediatrics (children) to geriatric (older adults). Both corporate and private practices. Most recently my practice was in general dentistry.
Currently, I am now a stay-at-home mom and military wife to my most amazing husband. Seriously, I love that guy! Dentistry is a passion of mine and want to continue to put my dental hygiene degree to great use so out comes “The dental momma”. The goal of this site is to be informational but from the perspective of a dental hygienist/mom. Often times when looking for information you mostly get a dentist or a very robotic textbook answer. And those responses have their place but what I’m offering is your run of the mill, day-to-day practical advice with my years of experience.
I want to help encourage more people to look at dental hygiene as a career option. Whether they are straight out of high school, a current college student deciding on a major or someone looking for a change of career.
As I have been along on my motherhood journey, I have no doubt had questions that I needed answers to. And when you’re trying to figure out why your adorable little infant and/or toddler isn’t sleeping well or should my child be at such and such milestone by now. It can make you feel all alone and to be honest helpless. But I want to change that. I want to be a resource for mommas like me. No one should have to feel alone and here at the dental momma, you won’t! Let’s be friends and go along this motherhood journey together!!
What I can do for you

My goal is simple: to be as helpful as possible. I want to help future students, current students and everyone in between learn more about the dental hygiene profession. In addition, I will be providing posts on topics I know as parents we have questions about for our families. As well as general information for everyone. Oral health is like exercising and eating well. If you are human and I think most of us are, then we can probably use a little bit more of it. So how about it, Let’s take this adventure together!
