Restaurant Style Pizza Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Red pepper flakes
  • Red wine vinegar
  • ½ onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1-2 tbsp  avocado oil

Instructions

  • To a heated pot(medium heat) add 2 tbsp of avocado oil. Followed by ½ a chopped onion. Let that cook until the onion becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic, 2 tsp of oregano, 2 tsp of italian seasoning, red pepper flakes to taste and 1 tbsp of red wine vinegar and give it a quick stir to combine.
  • Now pour in your can of crushed tomatoes. Add ¼ cup of water and stir.
  • Bring pot to a gentle boil and then reduce heat to a simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • All done!
  • Sauce can be used immediately on your homemade pizza dough or a store bought crust.

Notes

Here’s a few tips/ tricks!
 
  • Be sure to let pizza sauce cool completely before storing in the fridge or freezer.
 
  • Pizza sauce can be stored in the fridge for about 5-7 days. 
  • It can also be frozen and stored in the freezer for up to 6 months!
